Why image moderation as an API makes sense for small EU platforms
Any developer can wrap an open NSFW model over a weekend. That is not the barrier — and that is not where the value lies. A small platform doesn't pay for the model, but for what it doesn't want to maintain itself: reliability, compliance and convenience.
Three reasons
- Compliance. When moderation becomes a legal obligation (the DSA), a small player prefers a provider with a DPA and processing in the EU over taking the risk themselves.
- Privacy. The image is not stored on our side; in the self-host variant it never leaves the Client's infrastructure at all.
- Zero maintenance. Onboarding in 5 minutes, and then — nothing. No on-call shift at 3 a.m., no model updates on the Client's side.
